Psychology

AP Psychology is a college-level survey course covering a broad overview of the field of Psychology, equivalent to a college introduction to Psychology course. The course uses 2 college-level textbooks. The Myers text is the most widely used college introduction to Psychology textbook. Above all a student must have a mature and scholarly attitude regarding the course content and academic requirements. There will be graded encounters with actual AP exams from previous years.

Many students will find that the time commitment necessary to cover the extensive amount of content, to complete the reading and to perform strongly on exams, papers and labs to be quite challenging. Students enrolled in this course are expected to take the Advanced Placement Exam in Psychology in May. A summer project required.

This class is an enormous amount of work. However, that is balanced by the fact that the daily reading and every paper and test for the ENTIRE YEAR is scheduled. The students can work ahead to spread or minimize their workloads. Labs are not scheduled but generally assigned over a course of days. Successful students will manage their time wisely and exercise exceptional study skills. You can view a past calendar/schedule here.
